Lemony Snicket

This weekend we celebrated Marisa's birthday, again. Martin and I gave her tickets to High School Musical 2 in Atlanta for her birthday.

We woke up Saturday morning, packed our bags and headed out. Marisa has been wanting to see the movie "Jaws" for a long time so we got it for her to watch on the way there.

The shark ate someone and Marisa thought it was "cool", Anna thought it was "gross". They were watching it on the dvd player I got Martin about four years ago. Unfortunately, half way through the movie the dvd player died. So they haven't seen the end yet.

We stopped in Douglasville on our way at the "best gas station ever!". This is a must every time we go to Atlanta. It's crazy but they LOVE it. Marisa got the "best ever" strawberry banana smoothie.

When we got to Atlanta we went straight to the hotel. Unfortunately, we thought they would be able to get in the hot tub but it was closed. So we hung out in the room for a bit.

We then made dinner reservations, got dressed, and headed to Maggiano's to eat.

Unfortunately, when we got there our table wasn't ready and we had to wait. But the girls were good humored about it and sat in a "very soft chair" and waited.

Most of the food was very good and surprisingly affordable. Unfortunately, Anna's was terrible. She ordered grilled chicken, mashed potatoes and broccoli. She said that the chicken was "watery" (it was actually incredibly greasy and gross) so I shared my enormous plate of lasagna with her. Marisa ordered the spaghetti with a "giant meatball".

Yeah, so the picture is terrible but it tasted great. It was off the kids menu but it was HUGE!

We had a great dinner.

Then it was time for dessert.

They surprised the birthday girl with a big platter of deliciousness - brownies, creme brulee and cheesecake. She was in heaven!

That is her "no more pictures, I want to eat it" face!

Then it was time for High School Musical! Luckily we made our way to the Fabulous Fox Theater without getting lost.

The theater was amazing! Unfortunately, they did not allow photographs so I couldn't take any pictures but if you have a chance to see something there - it's great!

The girls really enjoyed the show and the actors were very good. Guess what. Martin only slept through half of it.

Sunday morning we woke up and drove around to try to find somewhere to eat breakfast. Unfortunately, Martin than drove right into another car. We were very luckily. We were not driving very fast so the damage was minimal and we were able to convince the other driver to not file a report. Our car has a few scratches but no one was hurt and it wasn't reported to insurance so we can deal with a few scratches!

We decided to forget breakfast and head to Underground Atlanta. Unfortunately, that short drive turned into a long one and we ended up lost for a while. But we finally arrived and went through the shops and got a "photo cube" made to remember the trip.

Everyone was getting hungry so we decided it was time to lunch and then to Lenox for a quick shopping trip before heading home. The drive from Underground to Buckhead should have been a pretty short one but unfortunately, that was not the case for us - lost again!

The girls wanted to go to the same restaurant we had taken them to last time we were in Atlanta (they are all about tradition!) so we went to Uncle Julio's. They ate pumpkin flan for dessert and they now obsessed with anything pumpkin and insist on calling it "baby food" at all times.

After lunch we went to Lenox. It was beautiful. The clothes were amazing. I could have stayed forever. Unfortunately, we had spent all the money we had so we couldn't buy anything.

It was time to leave the fabulous city of Atlanta and return to Birmingham.

Unfortunately, the trip home began with us being lost (again) for about an hour before finally finding the interstate. Note to self: buy navigation system.

There seemed to be a series of unfortunate events and we had some bumps (literally!) along the way but we had a truly fabulous weekend. The girls really enjoyed it and it was great to get away for a little while. They are at such a fun age and they keep me laughing all the time. I wish they would stay this age forever but I know we will enjoy them more and more as we watch them grow up.

Hope everyone is having a good week!
